I have been with The Wilderness Society for 3 ½ yrs and doing fundraising for nearly 6 yrs. I love the amazing work The Wilderness Society is doing and the fact that I am very good at my job.
This job gives you flexibility and it is like one big happy loving family here. It gives you so much experience, both work and life.

Life as an Emu

"We travel around this amazing, beautiful country working wherever, whenever and for as long or as little as we desire. Compared to other backpackers we live the life of luxury (or thrills), with the $’s we earn for finding Wilderness Defenders all over the country. We have gone on cruises around The Whitsundays and in Kakadu National Park, gone scuba diving on The Great Barrier Reef and we even went skydiving in Harvey Bay.

"The greatest part is that we did all this while helping protect all the beautiful places of wilderness we have seen along the way. I believe that no matter what I do or where I end up in life that I will always look back on this time, travelling and working as an EMU, as one of the best times of my life."

We are currently recruiting people for our Environmental Mobile Unit (EMU) program. Our EMUs travel Australia getting to see the beautiful places we are either campaigning to protect or have already helped protect while they work.

As an EMU you would either work independently or as part of a small team, setting your own itinerary and travelling Australia talking to the public about The Wilderness Society and raising vital funds for The Wilderness Society’s campaigns through our membership-giving program.
